Da Baby Sitter

You don’t know about baby sitters
’Til you’ve been baby-sat
By the new baby sitter that we had last night,
Harry the Hat.

The front door opens up and he says, “Hi.”
He’s dressed in black with a white silk tie.
“Good evening, folks, never fear,
Harry the Hat is here.”

Dad thinks Harry is some kind of hood,
But Mom says his references are very good!
He tells my folks, “Enjoy da show,”
And he says to us, “Let’s go!”

Vavoom, shaboom, he helps me clean my room.
He says it’s fun to get your homework done!
“Now I’m no cop but your Mom and Pop says
You can’t watch TV.” Oh...
You don’t know about baby sitters
’Til you’ve been baby-sat
By the new baby sitter that we had last night,
“Harry the Hat.”

My little sister loves him,
“Let’s color, sew and play.”
“When I was in the Big House
I learned how to crochet!”
He’s not like any sitter
That we have ever known.
He tells us to be good
Or we’ll end up like Al Capone.
He says, “It’s dinner time, you should be fed.”
He makes baked ziti and some garlic bread.
“Harry the Hat don’t like dirt,
We clean up before dessert.”

Vavoom, clink, clink,
We clean the dishes in the sink.
And after that we feed the dog and the cat.
“Just one more chore, we’ll mop the floor
And then we’ll play Go Fish.” Oh...
You don’t know about baby sitters
’Til you’ve been baby-sat
By the new baby sitter
That we had last night,
Harry the Hat.

He says,
“Ya’s both been very good,
So listen, here’s the news.”
He makes us both an offer
That we can not refuse.
He says to brush our teeth because
Our folks will be home soon
“Put on your jammies,
Get in bed,
I’ll read ya’s
Goodnight Moon.” Oh...
You don’t know about baby sitters
’Til you’ve been baby-sat
By the new baby sitter that we
had last night,
“I come on time, I’m very polite.
If I take a job I do it right.
Ask anybody, I’m dynamite.”
Harry the Hat.

Goodnight Moon. I love dat book.”
